Taksim is a new up and coming bar and restaurant in the revamped Ansal Plaza. With continental cuisine at its heart, it has some varied dishes to offer. The outdoor seating is extremely pretty. The decor of indoor space is made with cutlery and vessels with varied shapes and sizes, quite quirky really. They have a private seating on the first floor, and the DJ area is located right over the bar space. The service during starters and drinks was really good, but really deteriorated during main course. It took quite a while for the food to arrive.
Began the meal with, Thai Basil Chicken, perfectly cooked chicken with spicy and tangy notes. Thai Basil Fish, the fish was soft in texture, but coconut flavour was a bit overpowering. Farm Fresh Pizza, nicely cooked crust with ample toppings, this tasted delicious. American Corn Chop, this was crunchy on the outside and quite sweet in taste. This might be an acquired taste, but I quite liked it.
Dhaniya Lahsooni Murg, one of those classic dish that never goes wrong, quite well prepared. Butter Chicken Pizza, the chicken pieces were a bit over cooked and the crust was chewy. Chello Kebab, this was the best starter out of the lot. Lamb mince kebabs served on a bed saffron rice and topped with a fried egg, this dish is highly recommended.
Coming to the main course I ate Veg Green Thai Curry, coconut flavour was nicely balanced and the veggies were nicely cooked. Lovely Dal, this is their in house dal makhani but sadly it had carrot in it which didn’t sit right with me. Balti Gosht, I quite liked the gravy but the mutton piece wasn’t some enough. Gobbled all these with steamed rice which proved to be the perfect accompaniment.
Lastly in desserts I ate Blueberry Cheesecake and found it to be quite mediocre. Banoffee Pie, this layered dessert wasn’t rightly balanced as I found the cream to be slightly over powering. Chocolate Mud Slide, this rich creamy dessert was my favourite out of the lot and is recommended. Taksim offers many good things but a few things still needs improvement. The food is good but nothing extraordinary. Special curated cocktails is definitely the highlight of this meal.
