This 3 day food extravaganza bought a whole lot of surprises. Held at Nehru Park from 10th to 12th February 2017, it hosted a plethora of chains and standalone restaurants. Live masterclass with celebrity chefs was one of the main highlights as well. I gorged my way through this fest and I would be mentioning the best finds. Because even though the fest is over, but the restaurants are still out there for you to try and there are a few things that definitely shouldn’t be missed. So, here we go -:
Started the journey by trying some delicious variants of Olives and Tapas at Olive from Spain stall. Bonhomia, this 4 year old brand serves one of the best coffee in town. They also have some fantastic coffee makers for sale as well. In my quest for the unusual, I tried their Pumpkin Spiced Latte which totally appealed to my tastebuds. Bored of the usual coffee, then do give this a try.
Caara, this outlet is all about healthy and organic stuff. Must try are the Pesto Pizza and Caramel Cake. Not to mention they have got one of the best basil pesto in town. Thai Green Curry with Sticky Rice at Asian Haus proved be to another winner.
This was followed by melt in mouth galauti kebabs, crispy and crunchy Aloo Khasta Chat and some kickass Kanji at The Great Kebab Factory Outlet. Devoured some lovely Veg Pad Thai and Fig and Honey Ice Cream at Nueng Roi which was adjacent to it. Both the outlets belonging to Radisson Blu.
Moving on to the Taj outlet where catering was done by Varq. This name is legend in itself and Gandheri Kebab and Mutton Seekh Kebabs served by them were totally lip smacking. And I totally regret missing their Jamun Halwa. Things that are not be missed at Elation Cafe are Mushroom Lesco with Saffron Rice, which was spicy and creamy and try Watermelon Mojito along with that.
After that I tried one of the best spicy Galauti Kebabs at Neel outlet which is a home branch of Indigo Delicatessen. Also they served Belgium Chocolate Ice Cream with alcohol which was to die for. Chocolate Mocha at Pluck which looked spectacular and tasted even better. Make your own cupcake option at Cravings stall, made us go crazy. And the end product was delicious. Apart from this they have jar cakes, cake pops, tarts and many other sweet things to offer.
The Cacao Pods, without a doubt one of the best chocolates I have had till date. Whether it be that luscious glaze on top or the delightful taste, this brand scored full marks on every aspect. The caramel flavour is my personal favourite. Beyond Passe, for some vegan cheese and unique tea blends. Zazzleberry being my pick out of the lot. Muskotia, herbal tea brand serving teas which are effective even for heart diseases. And even thought it was herbal, the taste was pretty great.
M Crème for delicious Chocolate Brownies and Newyork Cheesecake. Artisan Meats, this one is for the carnivore in you. Serving chicken as well as pork open sandwiches with onion relish giving it the added zing, this place is a carnivore’s delight. After such heavy meal, tried the Veg Falafel Wrap at Pita Pit, which was toothsome. A special mention to the new initiative started by Pita Pit, for every Rs 15 you donate, they provide a meal for an underprivileged person, quite nice really. Alyousuf, this one for some fantastic tikkas and curries. Rich gravies and spicy tikkas constituted the last meal at this fest.
Now I would be mentioning some standalone restaurants which turned out to be hidden gems. Nutty Gritties, serving some unique snack mixes which proves to be the perfect tea accompaniment. And speaking of tea, Indian Splendor is my new favourite. They got fancy packaging and delicious tea blends. From the 8 blends they have got to offer, the Kashmir Masala is my favourite and is highly recommended.
Good Juicery which is offering 4 kinds of unique juice blends and my pick would be Sparkling Apple and Sparkling Mandarin & Mango. Both the juices tasted fabulous. Homemade Jams and Hummus of The Food Farm Company. I tried two jams and 6 types of hummus from this brand. My pick would be Strawberry Jalapeno Jam and Tez Hummus. Walnut and Date Cake from Lucky’s Bakery, without a doubt one of the best dry cakes I have tasted in recent times, highly recommended.
So, this was my Palate Fest exploits summarized for you. Hope you find it useful and try some of the fantastic stuff available.
