North Delhi is a hub for Vegetarians. The amount of veg options available in this area is quite outstanding. Seasonings located in Ashok Vihar, is one such restaurant providing a huge variety of veg dishes. I paid a visit to this place for a weekday lunch. The décor is very minimalistic, nothing to brag about. The place is quite big and the seating is comfortable. The service was quite fast.
Began the meal with Tamatar Dhania Shorba, Dal Shorba and Mutter Ka Shorba. All three of them tasted good but my personal favourite was definitely Tamatar Dhania Shorba and is recommended. In mocktails I opted for Masala Chatka and Berry Basil Martini, the martini was a bit on the sweeter side, nicely made thought. The tangy Masala Chatka was my absolute favourite and is highly recommended.
In starters I ordered for veg sampler and tried a variety of dishes. All the starters were served with 4 kinds of dips which deserves a special mention. The flavours are mango, guava, tandoori mayo and pickled pineapple. Arancini, crispy from outside and perfectly cheesy within this was. Tandoori Momos, the stuffing was mostly of cabbage and I absolutely loved the hot garlic sauce served with it. Veg Lollipop, absolutely one of the best I have tasted till date, highly recommended.
Tandoori Pineapple, absolutely loved these juicy, sweet and spicy pineapple pieces, highly recommended. Subz Galawati Kebab, these were soft and moist unlike other veg kebabs which tends to be dry. And loved the spicy undertones, recommended this is. Palak and Anjeer Ke Kebab, green in colour, the flavour combination was nice with a slight sweetish bite due to anjeer. Subz Parsi Kebab, flour was in the outer as well as in the inner layer of the kebab which is why I didn’t like it. If you are fond of besan you might like this dish.
Moving on to the main course I ate, Rajasthani Gatte Ki Sabji, the gravy was delicious but the gate weren’t soft enough. Aloo Uday Giri, stir fried baby potatoes with red and green chillies, absolutely loved this fiery preparation, recommended. Dal-E-Seasonings, their in house version of dal makhani. I found this to be quite average. Dal-E-Rajasthani, made with 5 types of dal, the tadka packed a punch, this is not to be missed. Vegetable Diwani Kofteh, veg dumplings cooked with garlic tadka prepared in spinach and tomato gravy. Quite liked this mildly spiced dish, the balance of flavour was perfect. Gobbled all these with Kathal Biryani, the rice lover in me absolutely adored this dish.
In desserts I ate Gulab Jamun and Phirni. The gulab jamun was soft and delicious. Unfortunately the phirni wasn’t properly executed. Summing up, Seasonings is definitely one of the best all veg restaurant in Delhi. Being a complete family restaurant this place doesn’t serve alcohol. But believe me you won’t miss it. Lip smacking vegetarian dishes is the forte of this place.
